6月17日 The God ModelHere's a new story beginning that starts what I think is a new concept in science fiction, at least I haven't read it before, and that's the ability to communicate across the universe instantaneously. This is something that has bothered me since I was around 10 years old...why can't we talk to whomever is out there on planets just like ours? The answer to communicating must be at our very fingertips. I may be have come up with the answer in this story. If you like it and want to see the rest of the story, email me or leave a comment. Ted The God Model By Ted Bailey
Race Rankin stole away with his favorite coffee cup to the living room to seek out his favorite overstuffed chair to read the Internet news. It was full of the same old stories for the past six months, just different angles to keep it interesting. In them, God was suddenly being revealed, and it wasn’t a happy scene. Race took a cautious sip from his cup, set it down on the coffee table, and picked up the reader. The home page of the Jackson Hourly News, June 6, 2055, 5:00 AM Pacific Time, flashed on the screen, preset to Race’s exacting reading settings. “Recent discoveries in the new field of space archeology have led to another controversy in the evolution-creation debate: It’s no longer the question of is there a God, but more to the point of who is God?” Oh, this ought to be good, he thought to himself, taking a sip of his coffee. Ever since the data started pouring in, the news was dominated by speculations of alien gods seeding Earth with humans some 2 million years ago, not once, but possibly several times. The controversy between the religious groups and the scientists was immense. Race continued reading. “The stronger case for the creation side of the coin is even more controversial than the original God theory, since records of human modeling continue to be downloaded from the Galactic Database as the data flows, seemingly unending through the radio astronomical systems around the world.” “The Human Model, as it is being called more by the journalists for lack of a better name, is the science of creating humans on certain types of planets after the terra-forming process has been completed, which is phenomenal in itself.” “To make it worse, finding evidence of super-intelligence in the universe threatens the convictions of both the scientific and the religious communities, making them unusually quiet, lately. “The lack of an argument has the press wondering which side will take credit for the answers once representatives from both sides of the fence closely examine the results in today’s closed-door Scientific-Religion Discovery Committee (SRDC) meeting.” Race smiled to himself at the thought of the religious community having to face the scientists in that meeting. He’d pay admission to watch if it was allowed. Behind closed doors… Why is that? It’s the fear factor of governing bodies across the world that they’ll lose their power to the knowledge of the people, he thought. He’d read enough. He flipped the reader Frisbee-style to the sofa and headed to the kitchen for another cup of coffee.
6月11日 Job Pay: Is it all you think it is?For all of you out there who are looking around for a "better" paying job or are going to school to get paid more, let me throw out out a few numbers. According to www.CareerBuilder.com, a very famous job board used across America to hire for just about anything you can imagine, the top ten most enduring jobs were listed along with the pay you can expect if you land one of them. Amazingly, only one of the jobs, doctor, paid more than I was paid.
That's disgusting!
For instance, teachers were listed as only making $42,000 per year. If you have been in America lately, you know one thing: You can't live on that figure anymore. Even scientists centered around the more respectable $70,000 range, but most were still on the low end of the scale.
Overall, the country seems to be hovering around $50,000, the same mark they were at 10 years ago. At the time, the talk around town was you couldn't live on anything less, unless you liked living like the poor, driving old cars, never buying a real house, having to live in apartments or dirtbag houses, and never getting the kind of entertainment revenue to land Dallas Cowboy game tickets or Christina Aguilera concert tickets for a decent position up front. If it was that bad then, what makes anyone think it's any better now?
The term "working poor" is more prevalent than ever around the states, as is evident of the number of people willing to adjust to the new way of life. Bottom line, dummies, don't work your asses off if you can't make a living; stand up for yourself and make some noise. At least explore the idea of self-employment if you can't bring yourself to yell at your boss.
Don't work and be poor!
Is this what you're looking for in a future? Did you see yourself rising with winners, wearing smoking jackets in your own mansion on weekdays and going to the sailing yacht on weekends for parties, only to find your dreams are being bashed against the economic walls of poverty? You're not the only one.
There is hope through entrepreneurship.
Back in the booming 50's our fathers started their own businesses because they could. Times were great, the economy was growing, everything was new and getting newer. Today, everything is old and getting older. Maybe the motivations were different then, but that makes it more important to consider the possibility of self-employment now. Gain freedom and control of your life.
More and more people are doing just that. Look on www.LinkedIn.com, one of the top networking boards going, and check out the resumes of the top people hanging around on the website. What you'll find is a plethora of people who have the "consultant" position at the top end of their resumes. The word "consultant" is just another way of saying, "I couldn't find a better job, so I went out on my own."
No one is willing to pay you much anymore, so why not pay yourself what YOU want to get paid and leave the middle-man out? That's exactly what many people over the age of 50 are doing right now.
Too late to start your own business, you ask?
Not at all! In the times of rising costs, greater health risks, and layoffs and forced retirements of workers over 45, start again by taking control and working for yourself. Millions are taking the plunge.
One group in Nevada is extoling the virtues of the newer limited corporation to protect your assets from unscrupulous or fraudulent lawsuits, so rampant in the states now. It's called the LLC. You can check them out by clicking on www.incorporateme.net. Yes, even a foreigner can start an American corporation. (It may the answer to getting a visa, by the way.)
The moral of this story is: Don't get stuck in the race for that "great job" just to find out you'll be working your butt off and still be broke. Ted |
