Crashing Stockmarket News: China is Blamed!

In the wake of our (Sound Of Country) successful presentation to the EMBA students of Vanderbuilt University and the numerous representatives from major American corporations, came the news of a drastically falling US stock market, and China was accused of manipulating it by selling massive numbers of stocks.

So, here we have it:  On one hand, the Americans are showing interest in China during the same few hours that the market was allegedly manipulated by the same country they were honoring.  On the other hand, the question is really if the Chinese in all of their market buying and selling could possibly put a dent in the stock market, given the number of shares bought and sold in the US alone.  I seriously doubt it!

The real reason the stocks shot downward is more logical.  Alan Greenspan, the former head of the US banking system organization known as the FED, said the US is bound for another downturn in the economy.  Immediately after that, most people grabbed their computers and put in sell orders to their brokers.  There went the market right down the drain.

The fact that the Chinese got wind of the Greenspan statement first, spurred them to sell before the Americans; it just appeared like an act of manipulation.  The Chinese market traders aren't that smart, yet.  Give them time.

As far as the fear of economic failure is concerned:  The US never really came out of the last one; it just equalized at a lower level.  My two trips to the states since then has shown me first-hand the reality of the economy.

The answer to all of this lies in the future of entrepreneurship.  People simply can no longer rely on the big businesses in America to give them security.  The people must remember their heritage and start their own companies.  This, and only this, will give them security, if there is such a thing.

    China?  Hey, they're doing it.

    Vanderbilt Presentation Today

Cathy (Ying Ying) and I did a presentation about the Sound of Country and First Sound Media today at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel.

We were pleasantly surprised to encounter about 35 business men and women attending the event, who are destined to be in the upper management of firms approaching the Chinese market.

Questions were plentiful, and the interest level was good.  I think this year will be a booming year for Shanghai in terms of receiving goods and services from America.

    My Other Blog Place

I have another blog that used to be blocked by the Chinese government, called, Blogspot.  If you want, you can check mine out at www.tedbailey.blogspot.com.  Sometimes it has more politically oriented editorials on it.  I don't pull any punches about saying things on that site.

    Hits On This Site

Believe it or not, there are many hits on this site!
    ...over 4,700 in a month!

I wouldn't have believed it, since no one seems to want to leave comments.  I think they just want to look at the pictures.  If so, leave a comment somewhere.

I'm going to change the format a little bit.  One of the reasons I have this website is for publishers.  Some publishers have shown interest in some of my writing in the past.  I want to make sure samples are up at all times.

Second, I want people to leave comments.

Third, I wanted a student writing club to begin.  Let's do it.

    She looks like a virgin

Here's another interesting statement I heard the other day.  It must be something the Chinese say.  I don't know.

She said, "She looks like a virgin."

What did she mean by that?  How could she tell?  Is there some way of telling by looking at the girl walking down the street?

That's what we need:  a virgin detector.

    Why?  I'm not sure.

    Growing beards

So, what's the deal about growing beards?

Without a beard certain girls respond to me well.  With a beard, other types of girls respond to me.  What's the difference between the two types of girls?  I haven't figured it out.

I think it may depend on whether the beard makes you look old or just young and fashionable.

Many years ago in the states when I worked at a huge bookstore, all the guys who worked there decided to grow the same kind of beard.  I remember this one girl used to flirt with me a lot.  One day, as I usually do with beards after a while, I cut it off.  After that she had nothing more to do with me.

    What's up with that?
